All God’s Creatures Holistic Healing Center is vital for our society today.  In the 2020 pandemic that the world suffered through, one fact is certainly true that “No person is an island unto themselves”. Everyone, at one time or another, needs a loving, compassionate person to come along side of them to provide support when it is so desperately needed. This is certainly evident in the vast number of individuals with chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes as they are the leading causes of death and disability in the United States.  They are also leading drivers of the nation’s $4.9 trillion in annual health care costs.  Three in four American adults have at least one chronic condition, and over half have two or more chronic conditions.

• Among adults ages 65 and older, more than 90% have at least one chronic condition;
• Among midlife adults ages 35-64, more than 75% have at least one condition;
• Among younger adults ages 18-34, 60% have at least one condition.
• Many preventable chronic diseases are caused by a short list of risk behaviors: smoking, poor nutrition, physical inactivity, and excessive alcohol use.

Concern with chronic diseases is also found with animals.  A Risk Analysis study introduces an innovative conceptual model for improving the surveillance and management of chronic animal diseases.  Developed by animal scientist Antonia Mataragka of the Agricultural University of Athens, the study presents an evidence-based risk assessment model that can also inform public health, since both humans and animals are experiencing a rise in the same chronic conditions.  The Board of Directors and staff of All God’s Creatures Holistic Healing Center is committed to providing services to these individuals and animals who find themselves in an unexpected situation or difficult life situation.
