About Us

Holistic healing is an approach to health that treats the whole person—body, mind, spirit, and emotions—rather than focusing solely on symptoms or disease.

Holistic healing emphasizes the interconnectedness of all aspects of a person’s well-being, including physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual dimensions, recognizing that imbalance in one area can affect overall health. It integrates conventional medical treatments with complementary therapies, such as acupuncture, mind-body techniques, nutrition, and lifestyle interventions, to promote optimal wellness.

Meet Our Team

Debra A. Schafer, DVM, CVA

Dr. Schafer grew up on a farm in Northeastern Indiana outside of Milford. She enjoyed the animals and spending time riding on farm calls with her father, who is also a veterinarian. She graduated from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. She practiced in several veterinary clinics, ranging from mixed to small animal, for the next 8 years. She then took a hiatus from veterinary practice and joined the Monastery of the Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, Indiana, where she became a Benedict Sister. She took Theology classes and worked in multiple disciplines for 2 years before she went back to veterinary practice as a Sister. She decided to leave the Monastery as a Sister but continued to work full-time as a veterinarian. During this time, she furthered her education by going back to school at the Chi Institute of Chinese Medicine. She graduated in December of 2005 and continued her education in Chinese Herbology. She opened her veterinary clinic, All God’s Creatures Holistic Healthcare, in September of 2010, where she incorporates Acupuncture, Herbs, Food Therapy with Western Veterinary Medicine as indicated.

Core Principles

  1. Treating the Whole Person: Holistic practitioners consider the entire individual, not just isolated symptoms or body parts, aiming for balance and overall wellness.
  2. Integration of Therapies: Combines traditional medicine with alternative or complementary approaches to address root causes of illness.
  3. Prevention and Self-Care: Focuses on preventing disease and empowering patients to actively participate in their health through lifestyle choices, stress management, and mental wellness.
  4. Mind-Body-Spirit Connection: Recognizes that emotional, spiritual, and social factors influence physical health, and that healing involves nurturing all these dimensions.

Practical Applications

Holistic healing can include a wide range of practices, from conventional medical treatments to therapies like massage, herbal medicine, and nutritional counseling. Holistic practitioners may be medical doctors, osteopaths, naturopaths, chiropractors, or other trained professionals who focus on individualized care plans that address the patient’s overall well-being.

Broader Perspective

Beyond individual care, holistic healing also considers environmental, cultural, and social factors that impact health, promoting sustainable and patient-centered approaches to wellness. The ultimate goal is not just to treat illness but to enhance quality of life, prevent disease, and support long-term health through a comprehensive, integrative approach.

Holistic healing is a comprehensive, patient-centered approach that seeks to achieve balance and wellness across all dimensions of life, integrating multiple therapies and emphasizing prevention, self-care, and the mind-body-spirit connection.
